Procedure to do a Java system copy (Oracle given as an example support)

  1. Backup Oracle database from source and restore to target as usual for an ABAP system.
  2. Extract tool ORABRCOPY from the Master DVD.
  3. Bring the source system down (SAP only)–will be down for 10 minutes or less if planned properly.
  4. Run the following command: ./ora_br_copy.sh -generateFiles -forceLogSwitches -targetSid -password -listenerPort.
  5. Start the source system and return it to business use.
  6. From the Master DVD, run the SAP-delivered tool on the source system during system uptime.
  7. Depending on your NetWeaver version, the Export option will be in different places. In general, you can look at: (Product Name)/Software LifeCycle Options/System Export/Database and SAP, Central Instance Export.
  8. If questioned, ensure you select “database-specific tools”.
  9. Now, log on to your target system.
  10. Depending on your NetWeaver version, the Import option will be in different places. In general, you can look at: (Product Name)/Software LifeCycle Options/Target System Installation support/Central System
